![]() The largest of the Tequila contingent is Proximo’s 1800 at 1.8 million cases, up 18%. In fact, only one of the 13 awardees is a mixto Tequila and the bulk of the winning brands are firmly priced in the super-premium tier. Tequila’s Hot Brand winners skew heavily toward super-premium and luxury priced 100% blue agave bottlings. In addition to earning a Hot Brand award for Maker’s, Beam Suntory landed another super-premium Bourbon on the list with Basil Hayden’s at 475,000 cases, up 21%. Greg Hughes, president of Beam Suntory North America, told Impact that Maker’s 46 and other higher-end whiskies have been driving gains for the brand. Last year, Maker’s Mark topped 2.3 million cases on 16% growth. Representing American whiskey, Beam Suntory-owned Maker’s Mark is the leading super-premium Bourbon in the U.S. Gallo’s entry was at 1.1 million cases in only its third year on the market and Western Son’s line of vodkas was at 379,000 cases for 2021. Gallo’s New Amsterdam Pink Whitney and Western Son’s namesake brand-also earned Hot Brand awards. The French vodka is the largest imported vodka to earn a Hot Brand, jumping 27% to just over 2.6 million cases. Just behind Jameson in the top five is Grey Goose, another brand shifting gears after a challenging period. The brand grew 17.1% last year to 3.7 million cases, completely erasing 2020’s 7% dip and returning the brand to solid footing. The third-largest spirits Hot Brand is Pernod Ricard’s Jameson, this year earning the award for its original release, without the help of its buoyant Black Barrel and Caskmates offshoots. ![]() While Fireball remains focused on its core flavored whisky, the brand has also launched a malt-based Fireball Cinnamon in off-premise locations that are unable to sell distilled spirits, further extending its reach. Last year, Fireball grew by 7.5% to roughly 6.8 million cases, earning Hot Brand honors and keeping it in the running as one of the largest spirits brands in the U.S. Sazerac’s Fireball is another rare example of a brand with just one offering in its arsenal. “We try to do one thing and do it really well, so we put all our energy into making the very best vodka out there and have no plans for new products,” says Frank Polley, vice president of trade marketing at Tito’s. A rarity in the vodka category with only a single release in a variety of sizes, Tito’s still has a commanding lead over the other winning Hot Brands it’s ahead of the second largest awardee, Fireball, by over 4 million cases. Though the brand posted substantial growth, 2021 marks a slowdown for Tito’s and is the first time in recent years that the brand failed to add 1 million cases in a calendar year. The brand added 625,000 nine-liter cases last year, coming in at just under 11 million cases in total. Vodka, king among spirits in America overall, also made a solid showing, boasting two of the top five Hot Brands in terms of total volume. While whiskies and Tequila make up 60% of this year’s Hot Brand winners, other categories like liqueurs and Cognac made a strong showing, pointing toward further prominence as consumers explore various brands within those segments. The macro trends of the last few years-a surge of interest in whiskies and Tequila-continues apace, with those two categories placing an equal number of brands on the honor roll. The award winners are among the most successful and valuable brands in the market, and offer a snapshot of what categories and brands are charting the course forward for spirits in the U.S. Some 43 spirits brands were awarded Impact Hot Brand honors, bringing together the fastest-rising players across the spirits world. The minimum volume requirement for spirits and imported wines is 200,000 cases, while domestic wines and RTDs must meet a threshold of 250,000 cases. There are three different ways to qualify as an Impact Hot Brand: a contender must have shown double-digit growth in each year from 2019 to 2021, or be an established player with at least 15% growth in 2021, or otherwise be a top 10 brand with at least 5% growth in 2021 and 15% growth since 2018. This year, a total of 96 brands from the wine, spirits, and RTD cocktail categories made the list. ![]() It appears in writing for the first time in 1824, in the writings “ Bracebridge Hall, a collection of essays and literary sketches by Washington Irving.” “ Wax eloquent” describes an individual that’s expansive and expressive in their speech. The saying “ wax poetic” directly originates from the saying “ wax eloquent,” used in the early 19th century. When the moon waxes, it gains visible size each night until it reaches totality as a “full moon.” The heavenly body then enters the “ waning” phase. The Oxford English Dictionary states that the use of the phrase in explaining the waxing phase of the moon traces back to 970. Many language experts believe it has a connection to the waxing phase of the moon cycle. The origin of the saying “ wax poetic” comes from the 1300s. “Let’s listen to this guy wax poetic about the glory days of the 1960s.” They just took to the podium to wax poetic about how great their administration is and the benefits they supposedly bring to the public.” It was an intelligent and interesting conversation.” “We would sit there for hours and wax poetic about the state of the world and civilization. “Gosh, do we have to sit here and listen to Billy wax poetic about how he changed his life by turning to a vegan lifestyle?” Or women might feel a more emotional connection to their partners when they wax poetic about how much they love them. For instance, the students could experience boredom when their professors wax poetic about old education standards. Waking poetic about something can have a positive or negative connotation. For instance, you could wax poetic about the days of your youth or about how you spent years studying philosophical works to earn your doctorate. The expression “ wax poetic” means that you’re speaking poetically about things in your life, current events, or topics where you feel you have knowledge about the subject of the discussion. This post unpacks the meaning and origin of this expression. ![]() Do you want to tell someone to go on with their philosophical argument? ![]() ![]() It’s proximal to two fairly well-known plays there a Company called Ethos Gold, which has been reporting good project samples, from there, up to 7,000 grams per ton gold. ![]() We also acquired a project called the Ace Project, which is in north central Newfoundland. Over the last couple of months, we've advanced that project, with airborne geophysics and some groundwork, and we hope to get much more active on that this year, including hopefully a first phase of drilling. We consolidated a large land package, to give ourselves a lot of hunting ground. One is a project called Motherlode, which has seen some prior work, some prior drilling in the early 2000s and we think has the potential to be part of a much larger opportunity there on an underexplored regional play. We acquired, in middle to late 2021, two assets in the province of Newfoundland, Canada. While we've been waiting for some of the permitting issues to be resolved in the DR, we sought to find some assets, in another jurisdiction, where we could diversify a little bit. I think it validates our objective to find projects that can attract mid-tier major companies, as we've done so with that asset. So that, I think, is a real differentiating factor for us. And in 2020, we entered into an earn in agreement with Barrick, whereby Barrick has the right to earn a 70% interest, in our Pueblo Ground project, by spending $10 million US and delivering a pre-feasibility study, within a six-year period. We have a significant land package, surrounding that mining operation. Part of that has to do with some permitting issues, for our neighbors, that we hope are being worked out now and that will be the green light for us to become active there again.īut we also have a project elsewhere in country, which is situated adjacent to and essentially surrounding, one of the largest gold mining operations on the planet and that's Barrick's Pueblo Viejo. We have drill permits in hand and are ready to continue to explore multiple targets there, at such time as we deem it appropriate. We are situated, immediately adjacent to that project, over about a 40-kilometer strike length of a number of targets on our ground. One of which is adjacent to an existing resource, of a little over three and a half million ounces gold equivalent, which is held by a Company called Gold Quest Mining. We've been in the DR now, since 2012, we have three quite strategic assets there. We're looking at opportunities, property assets that have the potential to host significant size mineral deposits that ultimately, one day, can be attractive to mid-tier and major companies. In quick summary Precipitate Gold is a junior exploration Company, really focused on the discovery and early-stage end of the spectrum. Typically, orthogonal views (AP, lateral) are adequate. Ī wrist radiograph series is adequate for the characterization of a distal wrist fracture and can differentiate between a Colles and Smith fracture. Another cause of neurovascular compromise seen in Smith fractures and other distal radius fractures is acute compartment syndrome of the forearm. Less commonly, but still present neurological concerns include both radial and ulnar nerve compression. Up to 15% of these fractures may show symptoms of acute carpal tunnel syndrome (ACTS) from compression to the median nerve. ![]() A compromise would necessitate immediate attempts at closed reduction. Įvaluation of the extremity's neurovascular status is imperative. There may also be an association of ulnar styloid base fractures. In addition to the volar displacement of the distal fragment, disruption of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) and the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) often occurs. One of Smith’s first diagnostic criteria was a deformed wrist with swelling visible on the volar side and the prominence of the ulna along the dorsum of the wrist. Also, present on the exam are swelling, pain, and decreased ROM. The physical exam may reveal a deformity of the distal forearm, but the direction of angulation- dorsal (Colles) or volar (Smith) is difficult to discern on visualization. Data appears to support a direct correlation between low-energy trauma-induced distal radius fracture and decreased bone mineral density. Between the ages of 64 to 94, women are six times more likely than men to sustain this type of fracture. In the elderly population, distal radial fractures are the second most common fracture, second only to hip fractures. Almost all distal radius fractures arise in children sustaining high-energy falls and osteoporotic seniors who suffer low-energy falls. The highest incidence of Smith's fractures is in young males and elderly females. ![]() However, Smith fractures make up approximately 5% of all radial and ulnar fractures combined. Distal radial fractures are the second most common fracture in the elderly. With over 600000 cases annually in the United States alone, distal radial fractures account for more than 16% of all adult fractures and 75% of forearm fractures. The distal radius is the most common fracture site in the upper extremity. ![]() The Drop to convert & add to iPhone option transfers files to your iPhone’s native or 3rd-party apps supported by WALTR PRO.
